And Disney is capitalizing on the films huge popularity by bringing the characters to life and recreating parts of the fairytale kingdom Arendelle in Frozen Summer Fun Live! at Hollywood Studios. Every day from July 5 until September 1, Princess Anna and Queen Elsa will make a royal entrance in a horse-drawn sleigh, in a procession down Hollywood Boulevard along with their posse of Frozen friends. Visitors will also be able to participate in a sing-along and belt out some of the most popular songs from the film soundtrack during a 20-minute show that includes an abbreviated retelling of the story with projections, lighting and special effects. To cool off from the summer sun, visitors can take up ice skating lessons at the winter wonderland Frozen Funland, while a daily dance party will also invite fans to cut a rug to DJ-spun medleys of the soundtrack. And to cap off the Frozen-themed day, the park will also explode in a nightly fireworks show at 9:45 pm, with projections of snow and ice images above Hollywood Blvd. Earlier this spring, a husband-wife duo uploaded a YouTube video of themselves lip synching to a Frozen song with such uncanny timing and convincing gestures, its since been viewed more than 15 million times. Jo Frost will dig back into her Supernanny bag of tricks when she lends her voice to the Friday, July 18 episode of the Disney Channel cartoon hit Jake and the Never Land Pirates (9 a.m./8c). Her role: Nanny Nell, the no-nonsense governess who took care of villainous Captain Hook when he was just a wee little lad. “I am suddenly the coolest auntie in the world in fact, I have achieved an unprecedented level of cool!” says Frost. “My little niece, Isabella, is a huge fan of Jake and the Never Land Pirates, and she is beside herself that I am playing Captain Hook’s nanny. I have officially arrived.” Frost had never done voiceover work prior to this gig but hopes this is only the beginning. “I had the most fun ever and, in a way, I’ve come full circle,” she says. “From my earliest days as a professional nanny, I was extremely animated really kind of out there when telling stories to the children. It was such a natural thing for me to do, and now I’m helping tell a great story for the people at Disney and they even let me sing a little opera!

That paragraph is straight-up plagiarism. Sorry. Every word in it was lifted verbatim from an editorial that appeared 76 years ago in the New York Times , when the US economy was emerging from another financial crisis, stuck in another lost decade, dealing with another identity crisis, looking for another business to make us rich. The scavenger hunt for the future of the US economy is an old national past-time. Today, it’s wearables, or green manufacturing, or biotech, or Uber for Everything, or wearables. What was the imagined future of the U.S. economy months before the beginning of World War II? It was … Disney cartoons. Yup.
