Merchandise Celebrates 20th Anniversary Of Twilight Zone Tower Of Terror At Walt Disney World Resort

tottot930223

On July 22, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror celebrates 20 years at Disney’s Hollywood Studios . This attraction has quickly become my son’s favorite thing to do in all of Walt Disney World . We’ve watched nearly every episode of the television show together, and love finding the little nods to the series hidden throughout the attraction every time we “ drop in .” To commemorate this year’s anniversary, we are releasing a T-shirt on our Disney Parks online store from July 22-27, 2014.

The shirt will be printed on a Hanes Beefy tee and will be available for read more both adults and youth. Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery (no express shipping is available). You can place an order for the shirt starting July 22 at http://www.DisneyStore.com/ParkEvents .

I have, however, some even more exciting news to share for this anniversary. David Soliman, Franchise and Brand assistant for Disney Theme Park Merchandise, gave me a first look at a new art program called “Hollywood Tower Hotel Authentic.” David said that the recent Haunted Mansion art program served as its inspiration.
“In early 2015, new merchandise will be coming to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attractions in both Florida and California ,” explained David. “We loved what was done with the ‘Haunted Mansion Authentic’ art program, and thought we could apply similar merchandise design philosophies to another classic Disney attraction. The Disney Design Group team did an amazing job creating the artwork which will be used on a variety of apparel items, souvenirs, home goods and more.”
Graphic designer Tyler Dumas from Disney Design Group was one of the lead artists on this program which was started about a year ago. When creating the art, the Disney artists imagined what kind of merchandise the Hollywood Tower Hotel would have produced during its heyday. The results left me speechless!
There were a few artists who contributed designs including Randy Noble, Richard Terpstra, Caley Hicks and Fabiola Garza Villalobos. My favorite design (shown above) is from Casey Jones and features a nod to the first episode I ever showed my son.
In the coming months, I will share some additional looks at the actual merchandise that Guests will find at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort beginning next year.

Eight Delectable Disney Parks Treats For National Ice Cream Day

eddpt123456Why do we love ice cream so much? Sunday, July 20, is National Ice Cream Day, declared by President Ronald Reagan in 1984, and we’re happy for the pure joy of a dripping ice cream cone on a hot summer day.
Disney Parks fans know the gooey Kitchen Sink Sundae, the irresistible Dole Whip and ice-cold Mickey Mouse bar. And we’ve all picked a favorite flavor for a double scoop from Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor at Disneyland park or Plaza Ice Cream Parlor at Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort . But for National Ice Cream Day, we’re stepping out with some ice cream creations you may not have tried.
Here are eight favorites that are universal studios vacation a little more creative than a double dip of vanilla or chocolate:

If you’re lucky enough to find yourself dining at California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort on National Ice Cream Day, order the Sundae Sampler, a mini-trio with Frangelico toffee mousse, a float with root-beer flavored ice cream and homemade vanilla soda and a “banana split” (mousse, fresh roasted pineapple, fresh strawberries, whipped cream, candied peanuts, chocolate sauce and a cherry). You won’t want to share.

Run, don’t walk, to try the chocolate macaron sandwich at L’Artisan des Glaces at the France pavilion at Epcot . A crunchy chocolate cookie sandwich with dark chocolate ice cream made right there, it’s simply divine. There are 16 flavors, but, seriously, that chocolate-chocolate sensation is a must. Another favorite? The hand-pressed brioche ice cream sandwich.
Try something different at the new Morocco Juice Bar at Epcot World Showcase, where the chef is making bold ice cream flavors like chocolate and cinnamon, green tea, pistachio with orange blossom water (our favorite), strawberry and red bean, and toasted almond with rosewater.
For a Magic Kingdom pick-me-up, grab the latte iced coffee float at Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies in Tomorrowland. (The kids can get a caramel or hot fudge sundae.)
At Disneyland Resort , we always make a stop at Clarabelle’s at Disney California Adventure park for the hand-dipped ice-cream bar. Choose vanilla, chocolate or mixed berry sorbet, ask for it dipped in milk or dark chocolate, then add a flourish of toppings like chocolate chips or rainbow sprinkles. Made on the spot while you watch.
Get fancy at Napa Rose at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa with a single, double or triple scoop of artisanal ice creams: Scharffen Berger chocolate chunk, Tahitian vanilla bean or creamy California strawberry. The Napa Rose pastry chefs churn it out fresh.
If you’re strolling Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort, stop at Uva Bar for a homemade ice-cream milkshake. We recommend the s’mores flavor. Or if a root beer float is more to your liking, they make theirs with Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream and craft root beer.
We’ve got a soft spot for cobbler a la mode, and some of the best is at Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue – fresh fruit (whatever’s in season) baked in a skillet with a crunchy topping and vanilla ice cream. Grab at least two spoons and share.

Disney World Monorail Shut Down By Weather-related Power… | Www.wftv.com

Review: “Planes: Fire visit & Rescue”:Soaring visuals, amiable heroes are reasons to board – The Denver Post

Sunday, July 13, 2014 | Posted: 10:00 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2014 Disney World monorail shut down by weather-related power outage; passengers evacuated Sponsored Links LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. About 120 passengers were evacuated from a Walt Disney World monorail Sunday evening due to a weather-related power outage. The monorail stopped on a stretch of track between the Transportation and Ticket Center and Disneys Wilderness Lodge. Workers spent about 30 minutes trying to restart the monorail to return it to a station to unload the passengers, officials said. Once those measures proved unsuccessful, the Reedy Creek Fire Department spent an hour evacuating the passengers from the monorail using a special stairwell device and other vehicles equipped with platforms, Fire Chief Bo Jones said. No one was injured, and there were no medical emergencies. Once lowered to the ground, the passengers were escorted to busses provided by Disney. Boarding this franchise for the first time are Ed Harris as Blade Ranger, the helicopter leader of the Piston Peak Air Attack Base; Julie Bowen as Lil’ Dipper, a gifted air tanker with a fan-crush on Dusty; and Wes Studi as a folklore-savvy helicopter named Windlifter. Anne Meara and Jerry Stiller sweeten the tale as old married RVs Winnie and Harvey. “Fire & Rescue” doesn’t do narrative loop-de-loops exactly. The storytelling is conventional in almost every sense: from its gruff leader with a past to its striving park superintendent who siphons funds from the firefighting budget for renovations of the Grand Fusel Lodge. What’s wild are the images. Dusty and Skipper’s swooping and arcing flight over the countryside is a preview of what’s to come. When Dusty heads to Piston Peaks National Park, the wooded terrain is altogether different and just as beckoning. Here, 3-D doesn’t just subtract from parents’ wallets but adds to the immersive ride. The animation effects veer toward the astonishing. A fave: a magenta cloud of retardant enveloping the screen.

Splash Mountain Celebrates 25 Years Of Splashdowns At Disneyland Park

On July 17, 1989, this link a new attraction opened to guests in Critter Country at Disneyland park — one that made a big splash. That attraction was Splash Mountain , a log ride that remains a guest favorite today. It stands 87 feet tall and drops guests five stories at a 45-degree angle. The attraction is a journey through scenes, featuring the story of Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox and Brer Bear, and ends with a thrilling splashdown. That’s the best part! No worries if you shut your eyes. A photo snaps a shot of guests reacting the moment they drop. If you don’t have a photo from splashdown with your face frozen in sheer elation, then it’s time to visit the Disneyland Resort . Trust me, it’s an experience you’ll always remember. Here’s a look back at opening day. Enjoy!

The soundstage has been transformed into a winter wonderland with Nordic trees surrounding the whole interior. The ice skating rink is quite large, and ice skates are available for rental. The cost is $10 for 30 minutes of fun on the ice, and includes the use of ice skates, socks and a helmet. Skating sessions are available on a first come, first serve basis each day from park opening to 8 p.m. You might not think about needing to warm up in Florida in summer, but you just might need a cup of hot cocoa after spending some time on the ice or in the snowy play area. Other options available at the trading post include cupcakes featuring those royal sisters Anna and Elsa. You can really keep cool with a Frozen blue raspberry slush as well. Make sure you time your visit to the winter wonderland for the live skating show as well. And, both inside the sound stage, and at the entrance is some fun for the technically-minded. By downloading the free Aurasma application to your phone or tablet, you can be in a photo with characters from the movie. It is a bit complicated, you need to stand in the correct space to get it to work, but your photo subject will suddenly have a reindeer or Olaf, the snow man in your photo, thanks to a little app magic.

Disney Theme Park Employees Arrested In Child Porn And Sex Stings | Wqad.com

Disney World, Universal Studios Orlando rocked by employee sex sting arrests, CNN reports | PennLive.com

The defendant specifically stated he would perform oral sex when referring to what he was going to do with the 14-year-old child, the police report said. Kingsolver, in the chat logs released by police, wrote he was actually a very cuddling and snuggling kind of guy and that I really enjoy giving oral. Kingsolver wrote, I work for Disney so I love to see dads having fun with their daughters. I believe in treating a lady like a princess. I treat ladies with respect because that is how I hope my daughter gets treated. In the interview with CNN, Kingsolver said police got it all wrong. He said he planned to call authorities after showing up at the home and meeting the girl and her father. Im not the monster that people are saying I am, and that the news, CNN and everyone else is saying that I am. Im an honest guy that I thought was trying to help and I thought I was trying to do the right thing. Did I do it in the right manner? No, obviously not, this one he said. Kingsolver, who is separated from his wife, has a son and a daughter as well as two stepchildren.

(AP) View/Post Comments This is not the family friendly face that Orlando theme parks like Walt Disney World, Universal Studios Orland and SeaWorld Orlando want to show to the world. Instead, the theme parks are being rocked today by a CNN investigation that reveals some 42 staffers across the three parks have been arrested in sex stings or for child porn charges since 2006. According to the report , the arrest breakdown is as follows: 35 staffers from Walt Disney World, along with five from Universal Studios Orlando and two more from SeaWorld Orlando. Of that total, 32 have been found guilty, eight have been found not guilty and two have not entered a plea, CNN reported. The report revealed a diversity of suspects — some married with children, a pastor, others working with children for years, USAToday wrote. However, most of those featured in the CNN report appeared to reach their potential targets through the Internet and child pornography websites, the newspaper said. Many of the suspects were nabbed as they traveled to meet someone who they thought was an underage child, but in actuality was a detective working with law enforcement, USAToday noted. However, Disney defended its employee pre-screening process to CNN: “We have extensive measures in place, including pre-employment and ongoing criminal background checks and computer monitoring and firewalls,” Disney spokeswoman Jacquee Wahler said in a statement “The numbers reported by CNN represent one one-hundredth of one percent of the 300,000 people we have employed during this time period.” Does this report shake your confidence in the family friendly nature of theme parks? Why or why not?
